Easter Message from General Secretary, WACC
Donnerstag, 20. März 2008
Greetings from WACC during Holy Week
Easter seems to have ‘arrived’ so much earlier this year! It feels like the year has only just begun and here we are in Holy Week. I suspect that many homilies this week will make passing reference at least to the fact that Easter has caught many people unprepared this year.
Perhaps this sense of being caught unprepared is not out of keeping with the Easter message.Who could have anticipated the experience of Mary and the friends of Jesus? Who could have anticipated the experience of the early disciples? Who could have anticipated the experience of God’s people down through the centuries? Who could have anticipated that in the hustle and bustle of our extremely busy lives that we find reason to stop, even for just a few days, to give thanks that the whole world does not rest on our shoulders alone? We share the gift of life and responsibility for life with all of God’s people. Easter is a time to give thanks that after all our world, our whole creation, is loved by a Creator with a love that refuses to be bound, even by death.
In our day perhaps the most powerful witness we can make as communication people is an active and effective affirmation that communication is peace, that peace is the living witness and presence of God’s love. WACC will focus much of our work in 2008, and beyond, in the belief that communication is peace. Congress 2008 will be a dramatic step in this journey- join us!
May this great transforming love be experienced this Easter in your life and in the lives of your family and neighbours? Caught unprepared? Hallelujah anyway!
