About the North American Regional Association of WACC
We are from Canada and the USA, a community of professional journalists, media makers, communications officers, and other media professionals who share a commitment to build a communications environment that is open to all and founded on respect for human dignity.
We have come together because we affirm the Christian Principles of Communication.
We cultivate an awareness of global solidarity. We focus on healing the hurts and wounds caused by manipulative and deceptive uses of communications power. We work together to make a difference when it comes to gender inequalities, AIDS, copyright excesses and other urgent issues. We promote local cultural initiatives and we champion media productions that have grassroots passion and innovative style.
NARA-WACC sponsors events and seminars in Canada and the U.S. on communications issues related to peace, justice and democracy. The association works with both religious and secular professional communications organizations in order to promote understanding and develop professional skills in regard to advancing democratic communications.
We invite all communications professionals in Canada and the USA to walk with us as we build a world community living in peace based on justice and respect.
WACC promotes communication for social change. It believes that communication is a basic human right that defines people's common humanity, strengthens cultures, enables participation, creates community and challenges tyranny and oppression.
